It's amazing how two players can battle for hours and a match isn't decided until the last few seconds. Although DNR won the 1st-set with a big margin (6-1). Dean nullified this big edge by taking the 2nd (6-4).

In the final set DNR quickly pulls ahead and appears to be a sure bet with a 4-1 lead, but Dean just won't lie down! Dean chips away at Doug's lead and wins 5 of the next 6 games - even holding a match point briefly before Doug slams cross-court to force a tie-breaker.

In the breaker - Dean was ahead until late, then finds himself down and only 2-points from losing this 2 1/2 hour battle!  It seemed like every point was a multi-shot marathon. The last points of the match were no different!  Eventually Doug hits the net-cord (5-all), then Doug hits long (5-6).  The final point was as lengthy as any with an exciting conclusion.  Dean draws Doug toward the ad-court, then quickly redirects his shot behind him hitting the deuce-side with Doug's momentum carrying him the other way!  Game-Set-Match!  DR eliminates DNR 1-6,6-4,7-6(7-5).
