BW overcame a sliced finger, and extreme temperatures to win his first match in TowerTennis competition. KS had shown a strong game against his earlier opponent, but the extra heat BW put on the ball caused KS to make numerous errors. BW won 59% of all points played, while KS won 36%.  Both players were equal in 1st serve execution, but BW pulled away at 78% 2nd serve completion. KS's 2nd serves fell behind at 50%. Consequently, KS double faulted nearly 2X as much as BW.

AJ overpowers DH 6-1, 6-3

As the heat index soared past 110 degrees.  AJ and DH brave life threatening conditions to keep the tournament on track. In previous years these two played one another tight, but today was another story.  AJ's stokes were noticeably more forceful. This put DH at a disadvantage on numerous occasions.  Although DH has great strokes... AJ's power frequently forced a defensive response.

JM vs SV

Like a cat playing with it's prey... JM was outclassing SV for the first half of the match.  JM easily won the 1st set, and had a 4-2 lead in the 2nd! SV was formulating headlines in his head announcing a JM victory. When JM asked: "You tired yet old man?"  SV replied: "Yes I am!".
Shortly thereafter, SV ties the 2nd set at 4-all, then went on to win 6-4. The 3rd-set was truly one for the record books! SV held 3-match points against JM, but couldn't finish him off.  JM takes a 6-5 lead - holding 2-match points against SV himself. SV battles back, forcing a tie-breaker at 6-all.  

SV wins 6-straight points, then goes on to win the tie-breaker 7-1.

Match time was 3-hours. Temperature was 87, Heat Index 94. Final Score: 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).

Tied at 1-all for a moment, then CD never sees another game! BY uses spin to dismantle his young opponent! BY wins in straight sets 6-1, 6-0!

This match was tied at 4-all each set before MM edged ahead to take both the match, and now a 2-1 lead in head to head play against KN.
